My goodness, isn't anyone going to mention Perl? Free, open-source,
cross-platform, with a vibrant and intelligent user community. Perl can do
web work, data-base stuff, system administration, XML, virtually anything.
Learning Perl was one of the smartest things I've ever done.
OK, "simple" maybe it ain't. But worth it.

Subject: [thelist] Recommend a Server Side Language?
Reply-To: thelist at lists.evolt.org
I've just started doing some web design, and have taught myself some CSS and
some Javascript.
I'm now looking for a simple, widely used server side language which is easy
to learn. All I want to do is be able to process some forms, maybe do a
simple auction etc.
Any recommendations? References (web or book) would also be appreciated!
Thx
Mark Cheng
