Holy Off-Topic, Batman! Where are your tips??
First of all, the initial activation of Windows XP can be done over the
Internet or over the phone line. Doing it over the Net creates a snapshot
of certain pieces of you machine's hardware.
If you change 4 pieces of those hardware within a certain timeframe, you
will have to re-activate your copy by calling Microsoft. They will then give
you a new key. (Note, they recently relaxed the rules . . . it used to be 4
pieces of hardware at all. It's now "within a yet-to-be-determined time
frame")
It's really not a big deal.
Now, since this has not even mentioned web development in any way shape or
form:
<tip>
Looking for websites for freelance projects? Here are a few:
1) www.guru.com --> The best of the 3 I've tried. There are plenty of
projects, and it's free for freelancers (people looking for developers pay,
I believe). It has a closed bidding process (so you can't see other
people's bids)
2) www.elance.com --> Plenty of projects, but there's a monthly fee to use
it. The Basic Subscription for web dev is $25/month. The "Select"
subscription is $150. Ouch! I guess it's worth it if you get a lot of
projects through there. It has an open bidding process, where you can see
other people's bids.
3) www.icplanet.com --> They've apparently got a patented search process.
However, when I checked the other night, they had a total of 7 projets (none
of them web development) so why even use the search process? Just browse
them. (The only reason I know about them is because I interviewed there 18
months ago. I've never seen anyone else ever mention them.)
