This only helps until you re-install (or?) and basically
doesn't prevent spam.

This is *exactly* what sneakemail does, except the fact that
with sneakemail, you completely hide your mail server.
Sneakemail also features filtering for each address you have
created.
I am in no way affiliated with sneakemail, I'm just a really
happy user.
