well, i managed to fix it, but I have absolutely no idea why it works.
I changed this:
$headers ="From: mailinglist at pauloakenfold.com\r\nReply-To:
mailinglist at pauloakenfold.com\r\nTo: '".$firstname." ".$secondname."
'<".$email.">";
To this:
$headers = "";
$headers ="From: mailinglist at pauloakenfold.com\r\nReply-To:
mailinglist at pauloakenfold.com\r\nTo: '".$firstname." ".$secondname."
'<".$email.">";
That makes no sense.
