A commonly used phrase in industry when encountering an project which
involves work that is not already defined by a known and universally
accepted worldwide standard is:
"must meet previously agreed-upon specifications as defined within this
contract".
Obviously this leaves the subject wide open for any kind of wild-ass spec to
be established on a job-by-job basis. This is (not-so-coincidentally) also a
commonly argued subject in court after a job is done that involved work that
was not previously defined by a known and universally accepted worldwide
standard.
