<tip type="Un-installing Programs" author="Frank Marion">
Sometimes one wants to un-install a program, which for reason, won't
un-install. Worse yet, when you try to re-install a program, it'll
tell you that it's already installed, even though it promised to
un-install it, but didn't.
Many times, developers use a program called "Install Shield" to
create an installer. It just so happens that this program will
create a folder at
C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information
You'll get a folder full of folders with names such as
{97E38F11-0FBE-4BC2-9EE1-5B1421C76F27}
If you dig though each, you'll find that each should contain a text
document called Setup.ini and that one of the first lines is
appname=YourApplicationName.
Find the one that matches your app, and pitch the folder. It should
allow InstallShield to complete the installation process.
May this spare you the frustration I've undergone.
