Roger this is just what I needed to hear and much appreciated as well at what
everyone else has said :)
Looks like I had better bring my M$ word skills up to scratch :(

Andrew said, perhaps "... it's up to individuals to make up their own pretty
diagrams!"
Hi Andrew, personally, I do prefer to produce my own diagrams for
bids/presentations/promotional literature etc rather than use a diagramming
program. I use a variety of packages from Word and Powerpoint (bog standard
but surprisingly flexible with the auto-shapes and lighting/simple 3-d
effects) to CorelDraw and Fireworks (much more flexible but perhaps demands
a more specialist knowledge). Choice of package often depends on final mode
of presentation (i.e. printed or projected) and time scales it needs to be
produced within.
Another point which I feel is important (personal preference again), is that
it is easier to impose a "house style" (if you have one) using these
packages than with other specific diagramming programs. If house style isn't
an issue then it's a case of personal preference of program.
I suppose the old addage that "a picture is worth 1,000 words" rings
particularly true in the situation you have just expereinced.
This probably isn't much help I suppose, but you asked for views so this is
my two-penneth (if it's worth that!) :)
regards
roger
