I've been in a similar situation myself. Believe me, I sympathize. I too
would recommend checking out HTML Tidy: <http://tidy.sourceforge.net/>.
I think your best bet though is to construct some carefully thought-out
regular expression-based search & replace functions and run them
site-wide. If you build your expressions up slowly and run tests along
the way, you can see how well they're working and if/how you need to
tweak them.
Best of luck.

Subject: [thelist] Delete all FP Code
Hey ya'll ..
I'm in the process of redoing a large site (700+ unique pages).
Complete redesign with CSS .. still tables. The existing site has been
created entirely with FrontPage (some 2K .. 97 before, I guess?).
Does anyone know of any programs that'll help me strip all FP-specific
*crap* from the source? I know I have a huge task ahead of me, redoing
the entire site .. no CMS .. there will be no CMS .. that's the way it
is.
If no program, does anyone have a series of Regular Expressions that
might help. I can always cut and paste raw text, and recode, and that
will probably be the case for some pages .. but there's a tonne of
images and Anchor links that I'd really rather not recode each page in
its entirety if I can avoid it.
I do have DW 4 (and 3) as well as my text editor of choice (editplus) at
my disposal .. and of course I could cringe and open FP2K too. ;)
TIA,
Mich
