Does it need to be absolutely positioned?
you could try:
wrap the nav and content div inside a container div and just before the
closing container tag place a cleaner div:
<div class="cleaner"> </div>
<!--end container--></div>
.cleaner {
clear:both;
height:1px;
font-size:1px;
border:none;
margin:0; padding:0;
background:transparent;
}
