[thelist] IE 6 and Auto Window Focus.... TWEAK UI?

I notice a lot of window focus issues with XP and all applications, not
just browsers. It is hugely annoying. You don't always get focus when
you expect it, or when you want it, and often an application is focused
for you whether you want it or not because it did something and wants
to tell you. (Or maybe there is a robot who needs to walk sadly into
his box and blow up in the middle of the screen.) There seem to be
differences for different XP computers, too. My computer has a task bar
that shows every single thing in it. My partner's computer shows only
application icons that hold menus listing all the open windows
associated with the application. This is a horrible annoyance since if
you open a new browser window it just tosses the taskbar icon into the
list and you are left to try to figure out which one it is in the list.
Reason number one for good (short) titles!
I don't think you should really worry too much about trying to control
every browser quirk, since likely this one is a "feature" designed to
"help you."
(Sorry for exposing some obvious ignorance about windows XP. I'm not an
expert. Plus, after days of installing and fixing after the last
meltdown, I've decided who cares about further tweaking or getting to
know it well. It's just going to die again anyway.)
