Hi Scott
I would chuck in Xoops. There is constant development going on and it
is becoming one of the best cms around. If you want to steer clear of
tables I would go with Plone although Xoops comes fairly close.
What do want to do? Contact me off-list if you want more info I am
happy to talk you through and point you to some cms sites that I have
created including a shop with Mambo. You could log in and play with
that!
Also do look at http://opensourcecms.com/. This site has cms that you
can log in and play with!
