I used to think the same way, but i've been using the dreamcast pad, and the
dual shock (and dual shock2) pad for a while now and analog is the way to
go - they give so much better control for a range of games - especially
driving games (i wouldn't think of gran turismo without it) ...
... tho the d-pad has its place ... such as Silpheed on PS2 - such a clone
of Radiant Silvergun on Sega Saturn (by the same dev team, Treasure) there
has never been :)
