Kodak DC220.  3x digital Zoom.

Not a bad camera... you can now get more for your money, but the Kodak name is
fairly synonymous with photo quality.  It has good compression features.

If I had the chance to do it over again with a much larger budget I'd try to get
one that I could change the lenses, but that's probably in the $5000 range.

Good interface software for PC, not so good for the Mac, but acceptable.
