On that topic (but off topic) - when my wife moved to L.A. to be with me
- some 4 years ago - I used to work nights - I was doing respiratory
therapy and working 7p to 7am shift.
Anyway - she would get nervous at night being alone in L.A. - in
Koreatown - so I said - we need to get you a bat. So we went down to the
sporting goods store (was it Oshmans?) and picked one up. I started
selecting bats from the (very wide array) and had her swing them - the
criteria for this was "can you pick it up easily and swat someone with
it" - we settled on a Wood t-ball bat. Not a *full size* bat - but my
(then online girlfriend) wife is not as large as me, so this worked well.
I advise you make that trip to your local sporting goods outlet. I also
advise you to contact some computer security firms and tell the your
story - and see what they say. You might want to contact a lawyer too. I
know that *I*, were this to happen to me - would be real nervous - and
would want to talk to experts in the field. Maybe you're not going to
hire them - but you can still pick their brains on the phone a bit about
what you can do / how to protect your *computers* anyway.
You might consider moving too - and deadbolts - etc...
...
I find myself wishing I had better things to say about this ... but what
I've written is all I have.
Be well cate - and be careful.
Joe
