yes, in fact it's likely the same validator that you saw at
http://validator.w3.org
it's called tidy -- http://www.w3.org/People/Raggett/tidy/
offline makes sense because online i'd have to re-upload to my server to
check every little correction (and i usually have a bunch to make)

liquid form fields -- sounds like a cool idea, provided they all stay
proportional to their original sizes, which, i would hope, match the
purpose of each field
nothing more jarring than, for example, the field for "middle initial"
being just as long as those for first name and last name
