Tony,
one way that I have handled this in the past:
- have an alphabetical list at the top (in size 1 type so it fits across the
page)
- this list links to a heading of the same letter
a b c d e f (etc)...
a b
apple.com babble.com
angst.com
^top ^top
kind of like that.... (also i remember something about using a target named
top...and it wasn't good)
i am sure there are a ton of ways to design this, but this is a quick way...
i would consider the audience (users) of the site, and which ways they are
familiar
with oranizing information.
categories, i think, are usually better.
:)

Subject: [thelist] links pages
i'm doing redesign of a site that has a few links pages that are long
and disorganized. i'm trying to figure out a way for visitors to be
able to navigate through the links to find what they want easily without
having to read the description of every individual link.
from what i can tell, the links themselves are pretty hard to
categorize and i was wondering if any of you guys have seen any good
examples of links pages that have effectively displayed numerous (ie. 50
or more), unrelated links. taking links out is not an option. thanks.
