I just want to add something to this thread. In reading...
"Your sites will end up being less competitive overnight," Plummer said,
adding that a complete ban on all mobile script capabilities could lead to a
Web presence that does not permit online chats or the filling out and
sending of online forms.
You have to note that only the first statement is in quotes. Which means
its the only one he actually said word for word. Something else of note is
that this article was written by 2 people, since its a pretty short article
my estimation is that it was gathered from 2 separate stories where the
authors found that a little bit of article a coincided with article b so why
not make them one article so that there's more to back it up.
That point aside(seeing as i think its less important) the issue of him
actually saying this, i believe is speculative at best. My guess is the he
said "Your sites will end up being less competitive overnight, " and someone
asked "Well what sort of things do web developers do with scripting? What
will the DOD be missing?" And he responded "Well, scripting can be used in
online chats(true), and sending forms(still true), etc.."
And that's how i think this guy, who probably isn't that stupid got his
words twisted around his throat. And how some "journalist" did the
twisting. =)
I don't even want to get into the whole consultant issue. There are good
ones, and bad ones. I myself like to consider myself a good-guy. I think i
am. I can't speak for others, and we all know the black sheep of each
industry exist.
anyway, just wanted to lend my interpretation.
