Try submitting to DMOZ.org, this is all I tell ;)

Funny I think it is one of the worst and slowest.

Nah,...
I have more the other impression. Depends on personel
experience, I guess. ("Aquarius" is 4 of 250000 at AV,
but this has been my best result lately.)
I think there is still room in most cases.

I keep saying a key is the preparation and doing it
then carefully planned and tracking your own work
and results.
And of course submitting by hand, depending on
your caffeine level you most times outrule any
software.
