Isn't that one of those "just live with it" sort of things? I wouldn't want
to click a link and have an unknown file saved to my hard drive, especially
without the ability to choose its location. That would seem like an easily
abused security hole. Most users don't mind the Save dialog boxes...just one
of those necessary steps. So is your client dead set on one-click
functionality?
What about linking using ftp? Isn't that what is used for...transferring
files that is?

Is it possible to provide Word (.doc), Excel (.xls), and PDF documents for
download/save, rather than display within the browser chrome?
At the moment I have a message "To download/save, right click and select
'Save Target As..'" (or save link as for NN). Thats a pain, is there a
better way?
