Exactly. .doc is forever beholden to Word for time immemorial.

Which pretty much sucks.

What happens if you feed, say, a Mac user saved an illustrator file as
OurFile.doc (entirely possible given the way Macs are extensionless) --
and the sysadmin sets the mimetype to illustrator/eps -- will IE try to
fire up Word?

If it does, that's dumb. :-(

Idiotic Microsoft.
