I haven't installed M12 yet, but when I installed M11, I skimmed the Rease Notes
and found that they recommend removing all traces of the previous build before
installing a new one.  They also noted that if you didn't, it would crash every
time at startup.  Don't know if this is what is causing your problem, but it
might be.
