Howdy....

<PRIMAL SCREAM LEVEL=4>
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
</PRIMAL SCREAM>

I have an interesting problem with IIS4. Inside my "root/master"
website, I have two "real" (versus virtual) directories called Dir1 and
Dir2. I then created a new Web Site (I'm using Name Virtual Services
versus a new IP for each site) called Tester. (It has a different
document root (same level, not nested) than the "master" web site.) I
created two directories called Dir1 and Dir2 under the new web site.
Then I moved the content in the original Dir1 and Dir2 directories to
the new Dir1 and Dir2 directories.

I deleted the original Dir1 and Dir2 directories and tried to create
virtual directories, pointing to the new locations. (The new web site's
domain is not ready to move to this server, so this would be one way to
get at and test the new content for the Tester web site.) But IIS says
that virtual directories under that name already exist. Which of course
is bogus - since I never even created virtual directories by those names
before and the original ones have been deleted.

So what gives? Why is ISS freaking out like this? Rebooting is not an
option right now. Critical web transactions are being run.
