I've just been through hell and back with Linux modems. There's not much
support for PCI modems (some, but not much), and a lot of PCI modems
are Winmodems even if the vendors say they're not. I'd *strongly*
advise an ISA or external one, unless the installer recognises one
you've already got (and therefore don't have to buy specially).
