Hi Peter,
you should make pictures/lizard1.gif transparent,
would look much nicer, proably make the font in the middle
column smaller..
Put the form by link on another page..even a pop-up
would save you some space for actual, daily, appealing
content instead of the form for you constant visitors.
How about putting right nav table more up, closing with
the content?
"Our ever growing collection of darn good pictures"
Think you mean "damn" ?
I like somehow that paragraph (sorry to pick it out of content)
"A problem here are the guerillas.
They kidnap people as a way of making a living.
Chances are very remote this will ever happen to you, but if it does,
you're in
real trouble. So you should try to avoid that. "
You put a lot of interesting content up there, entertaining to read,
found myself clicking though pages, did not look at your metas,
but I would suggest look now to get a good com domain name
with columbia in it.. chances are if you continue your travel
guide this good way of adding content, you might want
to become a "real" travel portal for that area.
You should try to make the whole site appearance more ordered
somehow, or rething navigation.
But in general I was positively surprised a the good written content.
(still reading)
just my thoughts, hth

p.s.:
your "safety guide map"
/colombia/guides/safety.html
is a 404, oops?
also
<http://poorbuthappy.com/colombia/documents/robbed_in_colombia>http://poorb
uthappy.com/colombia/documents/robbed_in_colombia
(reminds of my ISP company policies with a custom
404: "What you have been looking for cann't be found here..",
but this is absolutely another story)
btw, your's is smart
