Yup. In the middle of it right now.

StoryServer is hideously expensive, is developed in Tcl
(ruinously expensive as there's almost no developers on
the market) and only really good at newspaper type content.
Costs about US$100k per server.

Spectra is about 10% of the price, open (developed in CF and
will talk to almost anything) and good at personalisation too.
Costs about US$10k per server, but you need CF Enterprise
too (US$3k per server or so). They'll sell you a whole bundle
(cluster of servers, including hardware) for around US$70k.
Also very, very good at syndicating content to other sites.

You might also want to look at Interwoven (www.interwoven.com)
which is XML based and will plug into most existing environments.
But it doesn't have an application server, and they give you a strong
push towards Broadvision ($100kUS per server) or ATG Dynamo
(about the same).

Given unlimited budget, I might lean towards Interwoven, but otherwise
it's Spectra all the way.
