[thelist] CF and foreign databases: Possible?

it would be a trivial matter if the cf datasource could be defined in a way
that let cf communicate with the other database servers over the net --
your cfm page would do the formatting and the cfquery would run against a
remote database -- i'm not a server admin type of guy and i don't really
know, but i'd be surprised, though, if it were possible to do it that way
another method would be to get the other databases to store your branding
on their database -- this should be possible given that you said "the owner
is putting together agreements with other website owners"
when your visitor clicks a link, it's a link for the entire page, database
contents and all, on a remote site -- one of the url paramters would be an
identifier for your site, and the cf page on the remote site would dredge
up your headings, styles sheets, etc., out of the database, along with
their database records...
