[thelist] connecting sub-sites

Maybe I didn't explain myself... creating a new parent site is assumed. I'm
more concerned with how to handle the child sites. I want to tread as softly
as possible on the child sites while connecting it with the parent site and
the other child sites. Anyone want to take a stab at it?
