[Burns, Martin] They don't, but what our guy seems to be debating is

you need one at all. Which doesn't make sense.

[Burns, Martin] Very much how they sell themselves is that they fit into
only
one space in a complex set of eCommerce architectures. So if you have a
number of systems across the enterprise (say one uses Broadvision, another
uses CF, another uses ASP, another uses WebSphere etc etc etc, on a
range of server platforms), you can use one content management system
to deliver to any and all of them.
If you're only putting together one architecture for a single homogenous
offering, then integrating the CM & App Server makes sense (and you go
and buy Spectra).
