there would be one image per page, only as an added feature to page, not
required for any reason. purely asthetic. they would load automatically
(no thumbnails or anything) and the only other images would be small gifs.
the page would definitely not exceed 50kb.
the other thing is, as you mentioned, is that the site is MOSTLY used by
local users, so we're talking local ethernet speeds - 50kb should be chicken
feed....
