My Grandmother has a 486/66 W/Win3.1 - Has all her applications (word
processor, card games, card-maker, geneology software, scanner sofware,
and AOL 3) and she likes it and is used to it.

I couldn't begin to ask her to install any software.

And a new machine? And reinstalling all her apps? Just to see some 4.0
browser websites? Fuck *that*

My sister up till a few months ago had an older PowerPC Mac - it ran
pretty slow with Netscape or IE 4 -- so she ran 3.0 netscape.

Not everyone can justify turning over their hardware at the rate we
designers developer and programmers do.
