I'd say it depends on the resume and the portfolio. Yes I said portfolio. As
a web designer, you need to have examples of your work. If you're good, and
your work shows it, then formal education doesn't mean as much.
It does say that you've 'put in your time' and you can complete a
multiple-year project.
But it also depends on the potential employer. Some laugh you out the door
if you don't have a degree. Know the people you are going to work with.
