: Yes. I know that. It's locked.

what martin is trying to say is that he has all the settings set to plain
text in his email client. however, the rtf formatting is done by the mail
server at his place of employment. this is a common problem in large work
environments where ms exchange mail server is used. some exchange admins
think they know what's best for their users and enable the conversion on the
mail server. martin is lucky in that replies don't seem to get converted.
i know of people on other lists that have their initial post (like martin)
converted as well as any replies they may make. it must be really
frustrating. personally i'd wanna go throttle the exchange admin, but
that's just me.
<TIP TYPE="email">
you can tell where the html-formatting came to be in html-formatted messages
by viewing the entire source of the message. in outlook express this is as
simple as viewing the message, viewing it's properties, and then clicking
the "message source" button. if it's the user's email client that is set up
improperly, the email client will be identified somewhere in their as being
the source of the html formatting. if on the other hand you don't find a
line identifying the culprit for formatting or you see a line that ms
exchange is responsible, then it's something that occurs on the mail server
and is beyond the control of the user.
