And for goodness' sake, don't just promote the home page. If it's
appropriate, direct people straight to the section.
One of our major tv channels gives their URL (http://www.channel4.com)
at the end of every show, but never ever lets you go straight to the
program's sub-site. So their already over-burdened servers have to serve
another bunch of unnecessary hits.
Compare this to the BBC's strategy of giving you the direct URL such
as http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotlandnews/, which is much more sensible. Even
if they do read out FORWARDslash every damn time.
