[thelist] Design Help

Hi,
I'm a Systems developer of the "code it by hand" persuasion, and thus my
GUI, front end design skills leave a bit to be desired, compared to some of
the stuff on the web these days. I've been writing commercial software for a
number of years and am ok at UI, but I was hoping some of you folk could
help me brush up a bit
 I was wondering if any of you designer types could point me in the
direction of some kind of resource that would help improve my design skills.
Any help or ideas gratefully appreciated. I'm not bothered about becoming
Picasso, but would just like some tips, or design tutorials etc.
