Hey Erika -
Don't worry, we like dead horses ;)
I'll try to find the original post from 18 months ago that explained it.
Basically, Wired(through taylor) let us(former MJ's) that once an email
we sent on their list hit thier mailserver, they owned it and had the
rights to republish it. No one had remembered agreeing or seeing
anything about it when they joined MJ, but the next day, it started
appearing in the TOS that you got when you signed up.
Taylor said,
"So what does all this mean for you? Well it means that if you post to
the
list, we have the right to republish your post. "
Or read it for yourself at
http://lists.hotwired.com/webmonkey/monkeyjunkies/archive.199812/msg00020.html
(wired decided to cut out the entire month of november from their
archive due to anti-wired sentiments.. Cenorship and copyrights!)
At any rate, before I get into my ususal worked up fevor over this, I'll
stop :) Nice article btw erika while we're on the subject ;)
