|Your comments are noted, and your contribution to thelist is
|valuable, but please submit a tip when posting offtopic. I started this
|whole "thing" so I'll just point to recent articles as payment if no one
minds (I
|can rarely think of tips on the spot).

*rolls eyes* It was merely meant as an aside, I didn't actually figure
anyone would reply to it ;)... twas merely something I wanted to point out
at the end of my critique.

|On thelist, you'll often see someone noting their avoidance of
|reading through javascript to solve a problem with a comment like
"Macromedia
|code makes my eyes bleed". It's personal opinion and not a personal attack.
If
|you use Dreamweaver, and you get upset about someone saying your DW code is
ugly,
|then I think you're being overly sensitive. Browsing Macromedia code makes
my eyes
|bleed, and reading religious text makes me feel ill. I mentioned this as
|an explanation for why I didn't proofread the limited text on the site, in
the
|same way that others will explain their reasons for not reading Macromedia
javascript.
|
|For those who consider a spiritual side more important than elegant
javascript,
|that's your point of view. If I had written "marketing drivel makes me
sick", or
|"tech speak hurts my eyes", would anyone have responded with "That comment
was
|inappropriate!"? By many, and especially in Australia where attitudes are
more
|casual and people more likely to be non-religious, religious preference is
seen
|as nothing more than a career choice, or someone choosing to be vegetarian,
etc.
|(Reading a vegetarian site just makes me want to eat more chicken.)

You're absotively right. I'm pretty laid back about it, I mean I'm not
religious in any main-stream manner (usually not religious at all), and
actually if you'd said that "xtian-speak makes my eyes bleed" I probably
would have fallen off my chair, it was the 'vomit' reference that, pun
intended, left a nasty taste in my mouth. ;) Perhaps I should be an english
major hm? I suppose I'm of two minds on free speech. I mean if something
has to be said, it has to be said. On the other hand, if the meaning of the
message doesn't rely on being hurtful, I'm pretty cool with that. Like my
girlfriend should be telling me she thinks my new comdex shirt is a little
feminine instead of laughing in my face ;)

Anyway, it's not nearly that important, I should have pointed it out to you
instead of adding it to my list comments.

|ps: If you would like to continue the discussion, please email
|me offlist (isaac@members.evolt.org). I'm sure there are 748 list members
|who would prefer that the onlist thread ended here (or perhaps even a few
|messages ago :p)

749 ;)
