	Sorry for the late reply -- I've been away since late Thursday. You
might want to try Taskbar Commander
(http://www.mlin.net/files/TaskbarCommander.zip), which is a freeware app by
Mike Lin that does what you want. The readme.txt file that comes with the
app describes it thus:

"Taskbar Commander is a quick utility for the eccentric
Windows user - it allows you to reorder the buttons on
your taskbar and arrange them as you like.

"Usage is pretty simple. Upon startup, TC will alphabetize
your taskbar buttons. You can then use the pretty
straightforward controls to move the buttons around."

It's included on Lin's page of his miscellaneous apps at
http://www.mlin.net/misc.shtml, and requires IE4+ with shell integration.
I've used it on NT4, and it works okay, but you might find some bugs.
