I agree - While I 'love' PHP, this is a complete re-write of the software. It just
makes sense to wait a while to see what shakes out.
 
As being part of the hosting community - sometimes its best to build
new/bigger/stronger/faster/up-to-date machines and migrate your virtual hosts to them
instead of attempting an upgrade.

That said - do note that is Apache is compiled with DSO, you can add PHP4 with the
parsing extension of php4. This way you can run PHP3 and PHP4 together without them
interfering with each other.
