Because of the G4's speed and power (capable of 1 billion operations a
second) it falls under the US government's classification as a super
computer -- from what I've read. As such, the US law prohibits its export to
"sensitive nations."

From what I understand it is a somewhat antiquainted law that will be change
at some point.

Apple of course, has added some spin to this fact and turned it into an
entire ad campaign.
