Hi Cassel,

For a fixed-width design, I will use a width of 600px (or occasionally 590, or
even 520).

For liquid sites, I use a minimum width of 600px, and it will scale after that.

Sometimes, I will design liquidly, but with a minimum of just over 700 - keeping
the crucial info in the first 600, and then extra "tips", etc, in the remaining
100+. You can see an example of this technique at the following URL:

And other times, I will use a mix - a header that appears liquid, and content
with a fixed-width. You can see two examples here:

I recommend that you tailor a site's design to its audience. If you have a site
for gamers or tech enthusiasts, then consider 700px+. If it's a very general
site, then go for 590-600px. If you want to cater for WebTV users, then say
hello to 520px.

(I apologise that I can only provide screenshot examples - most of these
projects are still in development. If you have any questions about any of them,
feel free to ask.)
