It does no harm, espeially if this is a single user 
system.

Another good piece of advice.  

Other ideas are a DOS emulator for linux (never tried 
it personally).  If your company has a cd write/rewrite 
drive, invest in some CD-RW disks (the drives are 
getting cheaper by the day) 

Depending on where you live consider broadband access.  
In Canada here there is generally good cable AND DSL 
service for very little money ($40/month Cdn + minimal 
install fee, usually $50Cdn or less) This has been an 
invaluable investement, especially when it comes to 
driver/software downloads (star office in minuts as 
opposed to hours).  Also handy if you do design work.
