[thelist] bg image: making it tile

so I've got this pattern that I would really like to tile as a 
background image or whatever.  It doesn't line up, quite.

I seem to remember someone showing me a Kai's plug in that helped 
make a tile... I know there's a way to do it by hand but ...
I can't remember.

The pattern is fairly regular, but it is taken from a handpainted 
image so it isn't 100%.

if you are using HTML4 transitional DTD and
CSS to control fonts, do it thus:

1. put all font designations into CSS
including link color, visited color, active color & hover (if applicable).

2. if you want, for 3x browsers, put equivalent colors into "body" tag.

3. do not use <font> tags!

4. validate.
