Hi George,
I got the applet from JavaBoutique.com and started messing with it, deleting 
this and that, you now how it is, and not being entirely sure of what I was 
doing ended up with the code you saw.

Here is the original code that they said to copy and paste:

the only text file I can see is mess.txt
It says the following:

If I can’t stop the scroller from using a mouseover does anyone know of an 
applet that I can use that achieves the same effect without the mouseover.

I need a plain scrolling message with a background colour that does not 
scroll off to the edges of the page. I have tried finding Javascripts but 
they usually go from one side of the screen to the other.
