this is a good point, but billboard owners tend to advertise their 
blank space (at least around here), and yes, publishers and such 
do stuff their information into books and CDs... but i sometimes 
look at a web site as an identity piece, and having another 
company's logo can dilute your client's brand... especially if they 
are an agency (creative end) or a systems shop (development end) 
since neither of them wants to look like they can't do it 
themselves...

i guess you have to judge your own market and clients... we used 
to include a 'colophon' page on client sites, like a book or 
magazine, that described the developer, the goals of the site, the 
technologies used, etc... but that went out of fashion years ago...
