have a look at www.ctrlp.com they have a free PDF writer to download (it's
also on the CD free with Digit Magazine August issue www.digitmag.co.uk).
Ctrlp.com is an online print studio and you need to register with the site
to use it, they send an installation key, butthere seems to be no
restrictions to its use.
