just the fact that your HTML 4.01 is well formed (equals xhtml
transitional) leaves the door open for future manipulation of your code,
in the xml stylee. If it doesn't take you any more time than usual
(which it shouldn't if you are hand coding), I'd say do it.

It's still tag soup, but it's good soup :)
