The info on the mac was never to size anything below the .75em size for the
reason you just stated.
I can't argue any of this as I am just starting out.
But the research I did, points to what we have discussed and as for the mac
it was pointed out that when using a unit smaller than .75em that what you
describe would be the end result.

As for how your client react, I get the same thing from all the people I
talk web design to.
They call it tech talk... :)
