Finally, i found something that I can make into a tip!

<tip type="monitoring uptime">
Want to monitor the uptime of your server? ArsDigita has a great service
that enables you to do this for free, with the addition of only a one word
file to your server.

Add a doc to the server you want to monitor, call it uptime.txt and put the
word "success" in it. only that.

now with the url of this page handy, go here:

http://uptime.arsdigita.com/uptime/add-url.html

enter the full url of uptime.txt, the email address that you want email to
be sent to if the site goes down and the main url for your site.

You also have a choice as to whether you want to get email when the site
goes down, and then again when it come up or if you want to get email
periodically while its down without regard to when it comes up again.

cool, huh?

</tip>
