While you might loose the fees paid to the original registrar, you should 
be able to move between registrars with a simple email to InterNIC. You 
should NEVER have to wait for a domain to expire and then move the domain. 
(Especially since NSI is hoarding expired domains they manage in order 
auction them off - the bastards.) If a registrar does not have a FAQ on 
moving to them, run away. Try looking for a registrar via OpenSRS.org.
