[thelist] Access 2000 and Web Interaction

Hey, all

I've got an intranet client who is in a rush to put a few small db
tables/reports on the site I'm building for his group.

He wants me to use Access 2000's new "web integration" features to place a
simple front end on these databases.

I'm running IIS 4.something with FrontPage Extensions disabled.

I tried fooling around with the page generator wizard today, and got the
pages to work from the server box itself, but the pages don't work when you
surf into the site from a different machine... the page looks for the db on
the C:\ drive rather than in the web server's structure.

By that I mean that the db files are sitting in the same folder as the
Access-generated HTML page, but the path is
C:\inetpub\client\whatever\db.mdb rather than http://client/whatever/db.mdb

Anyone familiar with this new Access feature? I've been through the Help
files until my head is swimming.

<tip type="human interest">
Submitting plenty of evolt tips is a great way to let old friends find you
on the web... in vanity searches my name is coming up almost as much duen
to evolt tips as with my old web dev biz...

Moral of the story? If you want your name out there, make sure you
contribute plenty of tips! ;-)
